Everything You Need to Know About Moving to Orlando, FL | Morningstar Storage

Looking for a new place to call home? Have you ever considered Orlando, Florida? This city in central Florida is home to quite a few theme parks, and yet it is only about an hour away from the beach.

Moving to Orlando, Florida, can be an exciting adventure. Whether you’re drawn to the magical allure of Disney World, the vibrant cultural scene, or the year-round sunshine, there’s no denying that Orlando has a lot to offer. With its beautiful weather, diverse neighborhoods, and abundance of entertainment options, it’s easy to see why so many people choose to call Orlando home.

But before you pack up your moving truck and head toward the Sunshine State, you should know some important things about moving to the area. From the weather to the cost of living, let’s dive into everything you need to know to make your move as smooth as possible.

What’s the weather like in Orlando throughout the year?

Okay, let’s get the obvious out of the way first – it’s sunny in Orlando. A lot. Like, most of the time. So make sure you bring a pair of sunglasses with you — or a wide-brimmed hat at the very least!

Florida is well known for its warm, sunny weather, and the Orlando area is no exception. With temperatures averaging anywhere from the 70s and 80s Fahrenheit for the spring, winter, and fall parts of the year, the summers are known to get a little…toasty.

Not only does it get relatively warm in the summer months, but you can also expect the occasional afternoon thunderstorm, in addition to hurricane season, which runs from June to November every year. It’s important to have a plan in place in case of severe weather since the state is known to get hit during prime hurricane season.

How does the cost of living measure up to other areas?

While the cost of living in Orlando is generally lower than in many other major cities in the United States, it’s still important to budget accordingly. Housing costs will vary depending on the neighborhood, with some areas being more expensive than others.

Orlando is also a diverse city with a wide range of neighborhoods, each offering its unique vibe and amenities. Whether you’re looking for a bustling urban area with exciting nightlife opportunities or a quiet suburban neighborhood with family-friendly activities around the corner, you’re sure to find something that suits your lifestyle in Orlando.

So that’s good news on the financial front – Orlando’s cost of living won’t break the bank. While housing costs can vary depending on where you settle down, overall, groceries, transportation, and healthcare won’t drain your wallet as much as they might in some other major cities.

What’s the job market in this part of the Sunshine State?

Orlando’s economy is primarily driven by tourism, with major employers including Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando Resort, and SeaWorld Orlando. But it’s not all Mickey ears around here – there’s also a growing tech scene, plenty of healthcare opportunities, and more.

Because of this, the job market in Orlando remains competitive (so be prepared to hustle a bit), but there are still plenty of opportunities for those with the right skills and experience.

What’s the traffic like around town?

Let’s be real – Orlando traffic can be a pain, especially during peak tourist season. Like all big cities, Orlando is known to experience a bit of heavy traffic congestion. All that means is it’s important to plan your commute accordingly (and maybe invest in some good podcasts to listen to during your commute) and be prepared for delays. But the city also has a relatively well-developed public transportation system, including buses and a commuter rail line, which can help alleviate some of your day-to-day traffic woes!

What’s there to do for fun when you live in Orlando?

Orlando is a melting pot of cultures and ethnicities, with residents from all over the world calling the city home. This diversity is reflected in the city’s food, festivals, and community events, making Orlando a vibrant and welcoming place to live. You’ll certainly never run out of new foods to try or places to explore. Plus, the community vibe is strong – get ready to make some lifelong friends.

Of course, one of the biggest draws of living in the area is the abundance of entertainment and recreational opportunities. From world-class theme parks like Disney World and Universal Orlando to beautiful parks, golf courses, and outdoor activities, there’s quite literally always something to do in Orlando.

Plus, the city is home to a thriving arts and culture scene, with museums, theaters, and galleries to explore! And there’s also tons of outdoor activities, artsy stuff, and a buzzing nightlife. If you ever get bored (spoiler: you won’t), the beach is just a short drive away.

There you have it – the lowdown on moving to Orlando. It’s a city that’s as diverse as it is exciting, with something for everyone. Like all major decisions, it’s important to do your research, plan ahead, and get ready to embrace all this vibrant city offers. Welcome to Orlando!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How can I pay? Can I pay online?

We have several ways that you can pay, and they are all FEE FREE! Online, by phone, in- person, or auto-pay. We strongly suggest using the ACH Autopay method. It safely and automatically transfers your payment directly to us for an always on time payment from your checking account on the first of every month. If you wish to pay online, you will need to create an account with the original email you used to reserve your unit, as well as your unit number.
  • Do you prorate in and out?

Absolutely! We do not want you to have to pay for any days in the month that you’re not storing with us! For instance, if you sign your lease on the 11th of the month, your first payment is only for the 11th through the end of the month. On your move-out, we only ask that you give us a 10 day notice and that you vacate no later than the 15th. If you abide by those two easy rules, we will refund you for the entire second half of the month!
  • Do I have to stay a certain amount of time?

At Morningstar you are never locked in to a long term lease. Stay as long or as little as your needs apply. We offer month to month leases with prorating in and out.
  • Do I need Insurance?

If it’s worth storing then it must be worth protecting! We offer low-cost coverage for most of life’s mishaps for as little as 40 cents a day. So, even in the unlikely event that you will ever have a claim, it’s comforting to know that the coverage that we can offer protects your belongings in transit on the way to our facility, and there is never a deductible.
  • Do you require a deposit to hold a unit?

We do not require a deposit to hold a unit for you.
